The Secret Things Belong to the Lord

“The secret things belong to the Lord our God, but those things which are revealed belong to us and to our children forever, that we may do all the words of this law.” Deuteronomy 29:29

When God made us it was with the intent and desire to fellowship with us. God’s intention has always been to make Himself known to His creation. The writer of Hebrews tells us how God went about His revelation of Himself.

Hebrews 1:1 says “God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets, 2 has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds; 3 who being the brightness of His glory and the express image of His person, and upholding all things by the word of His power, when He had by Himself purged our sins, sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high, 4 having become so much better than the angels, as He has by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.”

God has revealed Himself through His creation. When you look up at the stars at night, aren’t you totally inspired to worship God by the billions and billions of lights that He set up in sky? The Psalmist said the heaven declare the glory of God!

God has revealed Himself through His inspired word, the Bible. What makes the Bible so unique is its continuity. Written over a 1,500-year period through 40 generations by 40 authors from every walk of life, written in the desert, dungeon and hillside during times of war and peace in Asia, Africa and Europe.

But the greatest revelation of God the Father is Jesus Christ. In Colossians 1:15 Paul said that Jesus is “the image of the invisible God.” In our view, there may be some things that are a mystery about God that He hasn’t revealed to us, Jesus isn’t one of them.

Now that Jesus has come I don’t have to try and figure God out. All I have to do is look to His Son. As I read His words and consider His teachings I have the picture of God the Father because Jesus is the image of the invisible God!

“Father, we praise You for sending Your Son into the world to reveal Yourself to mankind. Help us to grow in our understand of Who You are and Your will for our lives. In Jesus name, Amen.”

Yours in Christ,

Pastor Bob
